I am a deeply committed peace activist, a very practical person, and the founder of Pragmora, a unique new international peace organisation.
For more than 20 years, I have provided government decision-makers with research and analysis on diverse issues, including international security and democratisation. I served as a consultant to the RAND Corporation, was Scholar in Residence at the Canadian Institute of International Affairs, and Director of The Titan Group for Public Policy Analysis. I hold a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in public policy analysis and an M.A. and B.A. in international relations.
I believe we can greatly reduce the human suffering caused by wars — if we spend time developing pragmatic nonviolent solutions to ongoing conflicts, instead of jumping to military options, simply wishing for peace, turning a blind eye, or assuming nothing can be done.
I have no patience for partisan politics or self-righteous do-gooders when it comes to war and peace. “Out of Afghanistan!” “Save Darfur!” “Peace now!” Yes, it is critical that we draw attention to wars, but we also need to do more. We MUST do more. We need specific, pragmatic, nonviolent solutions.
The vision of Pragmora is a world freed from war. I know this sounds audacious. I know this will take time.
But I believe we can move towards a world freed from war. We certainly can’t go wrong if the outcome of our efforts is fewer wars and less devastation without achieving complete world peace. Tremendous suffering will be averted.
So I aim for the audacious – without reservation, without excuse. And with a deep commitment to persistent, diligent, systematic work.
Inch-by-inch. Step by step by logical step, Pragmora is going to Plan the Peace. We conduct research, work with experts globally to develop realistic conflict resolution measures, and put those measures into the hands of activists around the world. The new peace movement will be pragmatic, effective, global.
Through this blog, I will try to draw greater attention to the real possibilities for peace, to the consequences of war, and to the effective work that other individuals and groups are doing.
I am committed.

Hi Thanks for sharing news from the ground. This blog has the merit of channeling the views and opinion of average citizens which has the bad feeling of being abandonned or ignored. Please keep us awake!
